Women’s Soccer-Fitness (So-Fit) Program
The Ottawa Internationals S.C. offer mothers, aunts and older sisters of Club members and anyone else who is interested the opportunity to improve their fitness level and learn more about the game of soccer.
The program will be held on Saturdays from 9:30 -11:30 AM beginning the 2nd Saturday in June, and ending the second or third Saturday in August. The structure is based on fitness training, soccer skills and friendly scrimmages. There is no prerequisite for knowing the game of soccer or its rules and beginners are most welcome. Training will be conducted by qualified instructors under the guidance of Roy Hillier MPE, MBE, and our Club Head Coach.
Coaches from the Ottawa Internationals put the players through some drills: passing, receiving passes, kicking, heading, controlling the ball. They then learn some tactics in game play: give and go, moving to space, crossing the ball, and attacking the net.
First-timer jitters are common at So-Fit, and they usually last about five minutes, or as long as it takes to kick a ball a few times, make your first pass or master the fine art of dribbling between pylons. With all the women learning skills and rules together, there's no pressure to perform and lots of support and coaching. The experts say that it takes 1000 hours of soccer practice to make an accomplished player. But it usually takes less than one hour of So-Fit soccer for a participant to get hooked on the game. And as a by-product, the women become fitter, sorer, but happier.
The cost is $125 which includes a soccer ball.
Women’s So-Fit Jerseys are required and are priced separately
